Maybe you’ve already heard the news: after a successful Real-Time Analytics Summit 2023, we’re bringing the event back for 2024! The conference will take place on May 7-9, 2024 in San Jose, CA. Registration is now open, so you know what to do.

This year we’re also adding a training day for those interested in learning more about Apache Pinot. The add-on workshop will take you through the inner workings of Pinot, and help you set up and run local Pinot and Kafka clusters. Learn more at rtasummit.com.

Insights from industry luminaries

In 2024, we’ll be leveling up with a new venue and even bigger plans for the Summit. Real-time analytics is the next frontier in the event-driven, real-time revolution, and as the community grows, so will we. It’s a great opportunity to hear about what the leaders in the space are doing around real-time analytics.

I think you’ll be excited about the speakers and session we’ve lined up. Let’s start with the keynotes:

Kishore Gopalakrishna, CEO, StarTree

Jay Kreps, CEO, Confluent

Ya Xu, VP of Engineering, Head of Data and AI, LinkedIn

You’ll also see speakers from LinkedIn, Uber, DoorDash, Stripe, AWS, Atlassian, Snowflake, Decodable, StarTree, and more. Check out the full agenda for details. Some of the sessions I’m looking forward to include:

  • Transforming Your APIs into Business Gold — Architecting a Real-Time API Usage Analytics Platform (Dunith Danushka, Redpanda Data)

  • Operating Apache Pinot at Scale (David Yang, Stripe)

  • Optimize I/O Performance of Real-Time Queries using Caching (Hope Wang, Alluxio)

Highlights from Real-Time Analytics Summit 2023

The 2023 summit included 32 speakers from companies like Uber, AWS, Stripe, DoorDash, LinkedIn, Confluent, and Starburst. We brought over 200 developers, architects, and other representatives of real-time data technologies. We were just getting started seeing what each of us is building in this emerging field, and sharing the lessons we’d learned so far.

3 reasons you should attend Real-Time Analytics Summit 2024

If you need some convincing on why you should attend, here are my favorite parts from attending the 2023 summit and what I’m most looking forward to in 2024.

1. Meeting like-minded developers, engineers, and thought leaders

The Real-Time Analytics Summit 2023 was the first in-person event that was 100% focused on the real-time analytics community. There’s no other opportunity quite like the Summit to connect with so many other experts in the space and hear from other developers and engineers about their real-time analytics journey.

2. Hearing about real-world applications of real-time technologies

I was so pleased with the breadth and variety of topics covered at the 2023 summit, and 2024 promises to be another great event. The speakers we lined up had expertise spanning streaming platforms, stream processing, real-time databases, infrastructure concerns, relevant tooling, application architectures, user interfaces, and more.

Some of my favorite sessions included our panel talk with industry leaders from Cisco, Microsoft, LinkedIn and DoorDash, how to combine the power of Apache Flink and Apache Pinot by Ken Krugler (yes, the Ken Krugler), and the detailed technical comparison of the three major real-time analytics databases: ClickHouse, Apache Druid, and Apache Pinot.

3. Seeing the evolution of the real-time data space

This is such a fast-moving space, and I love hearing new stories about how developers and engineers are leveraging the tools and practices that are emerging. There’s no better way to discover trends and new use cases than by connecting with friends and peers in person.
