Meetup: High Availability and Disaster Recovery

Many of our preconceptions about the requirements for High Availability and Disaster Recovery are based on lessons we learned configuring raw hardware in corporate data centers. But today, cloud services change the risk and cost calculations considerably. And many SaaS offerings may assume the burden of HA/DR transparently to the administrator, leaving many of us out of practice in designing larger, encompassing, fault tolerant and highly available architectures.

In this session, we will re-evaluate our priorities for HA/DR, look at what is involved in making systems ‘always available’ and consider our options if we are willing to relax that requirement a little. Things are no longer as dire as they were in the corporate data center of yesterday.
